01 — Mold Inspection & Testing

Find it before it finds you.

Your home inspector won't catch hidden mold. We will. Our thorough inspections check HVAC systems, crawl spaces, attics, and behind walls — anywhere moisture can hide. Every inspection includes third-party accredited lab analysis.

  • Pre-purchase and pre-listing mold inspections
  • Surface sampling and air quality analysis
  • HVAC, attic, crawl space, and basement inspection
  • Third-party lab testing — no conflict of interest
  • Detailed written report with photos

Our inspection process

Visual inspection

Systematic walk-through of all accessible areas — HVAC, attic, basement, and crawl space.

Sampling

Air and surface samples collected where warranted — not as a default upsell.

Lab analysis

Samples sent to an independent accredited lab. Results in 24–48 hours.

Written report

Clear findings, photos, and specific remediation recommendations.

We remediate mold in

  • Basements and crawl spaces
  • HVAC systems and flex ductwork
  • Attics and roof decking
  • Behind drywall and under flooring
  • Bathrooms and kitchens
  • After water damage and flooding

All work is followed by post-clearance testing before we close up.

02 — Mold Remediation & Removal

Removed properly. Not painted over.

Mold remediation done wrong just hides the problem. We contain, remove, and treat at the source — then apply antimicrobial treatment and address the moisture cause. Your home passes clearance testing before we leave.

  • Containment barriers to prevent spore spread
  • Complete physical removal — no covering up
  • HEPA air filtration during work
  • Antimicrobial treatment of affected surfaces
  • Post-remediation clearance testing

03 — Asbestos Testing

Know before you renovate.

Asbestos was commonly used in residential construction through the mid-1970s. If your home was built before 1975 and you're planning any renovation work, you need to test before you disturb those materials.

  • Common in pipe insulation, vinyl tiles, duct connectors, and siding
  • PLM and TEM laboratory analysis — most accurate available
  • Pre-renovation, pre-purchase, and pre-demolition testing
  • Complete documentation for contractors and permits

Common asbestos locations

Heating pipe insulation Pre-1975
Vinyl floor tiles (9" square) Pre-1975
HVAC duct connectors & wrap Pre-1975
Textured ceiling (popcorn) 1950–1980
Exterior siding and mastics Pre-1975
Fireproofing materials Pre-1975

Is your home at risk?

Built before 1950 Highest risk
Built 1950–1978 Moderate risk
Built after 1978 Very low risk

Lead paint is most commonly found on original wood windows, doors, and door framing. Undisturbed paint in good condition is often managed in place — the danger is when it's disturbed during renovation.

04 — Lead Paint Inspection & RRP

Protect your family during renovations.

Lead paint was banned in residential housing in 1978. Homes built before then — especially pre-1950 — are at significant risk. Renovation, repair, and painting (RRP) work that disturbs lead paint requires proper protocols and documentation.

05 — Air & VOC Sampling

Know what's in the air you breathe.

When inspection alone isn't enough, air and surface sampling provides objective data on spore counts, species, and VOC levels. All samples go to an independent accredited lab.

  • Mold spore air sampling
  • Surface swab and tape lift analysis
  • VOC and chemical testing
  • ERMI and HERTSMI-2 screening

06 — Crawl Space Encapsulation

Stop moisture at the source.

An unencapsulated crawl space is a moisture factory. Vapor barriers, drainage matting, and properly sized dehumidifiers transform your crawl space from a mold breeding ground into a clean, dry environment.

  • Heavy-duty vapor barrier installation
  • Foundation waterproofing & Drylok
  • Auto-drain dehumidifier systems
  • Drainage matting and venting

08 — Radon Testing

Where it all started.

EnviroHandy was built on radon testing — our founder's grandfather helped develop the original E-Perm radon testing device, still used by inspectors across the region. We've been testing homes since 1990.

  • Short and long-term radon testing
  • Pre-purchase and real estate testing
  • Post-mitigation clearance testing
  • Serving Metro DC and Maryland since 1990
